I have to be honest….I saw and heard all this talk of snow yesterday…and looked out my window and saw the green grass with a very small dusting of snow….Apparently, when you live close to the water you get gypped out of seeing a winter wonderland from your window! But, since I get to see the beautiful Puget Sound…I think I will be just fine! I drove out of my neighborhood today though and saw all the winter that happened! I am not a fan of driving in the snow..but, I do love the blanket of peace that it seems to bring over the world! When I took Sophia and another photographer friend of mine, Jenn, up to Alpental last week, it was SO peaceful and quiet that it was almost eerie…but, we got over it and had some fun!!!What could be better than some freckles in the snow? Right?Sophia and I have been shooting together now for years.. She has modeled for many of the classes that I teach, and I have had the honor of photographing her family on several occasions, and she was a senior a couple of years ago….but, after her senior session…we have had less time to have fun together. So, when we saw each other recently we decided it was time for a “just fun” shoot. And, since we had never done a snow session…we made a date to find some snow! It made a great opportunity for me to get to know a new photographer who is new to the business as well! Sophia is the perfect person to learn on!So…we headed up. We didn’t know that on Mondays the ski resort is closed…so we had the entire place to ourselves! It was beautiful! As we drove in Jenn and I learned that this was Sophia’s first time ever really being in the snow! WHAT?!It made for some great comedy for the afternoon! But, then, Sophia can make me laugh in any situation!January and February are usually slower months for me…so, it’s the perfect time for doing a fun session just because! I did have a couple weddings this last month..so, it was busier than usual, but I always feel a little energized after doing a session with no pressure but to just create and have fun!Sophia was ready for some fun, too!WOW! Don’t we live in a gorgeous place?!Love her freckles!!!She brought this fun blanket along…and was grateful for the warmth it brought her, too!Sophia is an impressive girl! I have watched her grow up and go through all the phases of her life. She has done with a confidence and a firm opinion on how she was going to walk it. And, now, seeing her do the start of her adult life with that same determination and goals is great. She laughs easy…But, when you hear her talk about the work she is doing with youth..you see her passion come out! This made us all laugh….she took my phone for the afternoon to help out my Instagram Story life…cause I am pretty bad at the social media game! 🙂“Keep going….keep going….till the snow falls on you!” haha!We didn’t make her lay there too long…but, long enough…..I loved her cute boots! (pretty sure we get to thank her mom for that fashion choice!!)I love the sun. I love being warm…not hot, but warm. But, I LOVE the beauty that the snow creates…and I can venture out into the cold for a little bit to capture that beauty! That girl!Always love a great black and white with Sophia! Those freckles just make the photo! Thanks, Sophia! It was so fun to hang out with you and hear about your world…and watch you “experience” snow! haha! Keep on walking your life out like you are! God is going to honor it!
I have said this so many times…and I never tire of saying it again because it’s not something I take lightly. I photograph some of the most amazing people and I am so honored to be part of the special moments in their lives! This family certainly falls into that category!I met Ryan and Kate when they were pregnant with their first little one…who, as you can see, is not so little anymore! I loved being a part of the maternity, birth, and newborn photos for each of the girls …and now for this little one!
At the time we did the session (which as you can tell was done during warmer days…)they had not found out the gender of this little one. It was so exciting! They were convinced that they were going to add another little sister to their beautiful brood….….and they were perfectly happy to do that! But….since this is a delayed post, and the cat is out of the bag now…it was so fun to see the surprise on their faces when their little boy was born!We were so excited to get to do this maternity session with some golden light! The other two were in the fall and were both rainy and “PNW” style!Kate! This woman is beautiful…all around! Inside and out! I am so blessed to now be able to not only call her a favorite client…but, a friend!Ryan and Kate LOVE being parents and it shows! What a beautiful family! We have done this shot with each of the kids! Always with pink bows…but, this time she chose mint green cause it would go for either boy or girl!!!Ryan….These girls LOVE their daddy! Penny and Phoebe were having a little dance party in the golden light!Phoebe is a great big sister…and just loves Penny and now Archer! The girls!Love that light! So cute!Congratulations, McDonald’s! I am so excited for the next family photo session time!
Weddings…such a sacred beautiful day full of all the emotions that we could possibly feel….excitement, nerves, love, fun, celebrating, love, anxiety, some fears, and even more love. They are so full of special moments…that I find blogging them so hard! Especially when the bride is my best friends’ daughter and all the moments are extra special to me…and when there TONS of lovely people there to celebrate with them! It makes for a very very long post! Something I really try to avoid! So instead I just handpicked some favorite highlights of this beautiful couple to share! And, since I have quite a few weddings to share…I know the blog will thank me for not overloading it with too many photos! Wade and Mary got married this past summer on a day that was full of light and HEAT! It reached 100 degrees this day..which honestly is a little unusual for us PNW types! The wedding was held at The Pickering Barn in Issaquah and all the special decor details were just perfect! I know a lot of people pitched in and helped make this day happen…too many to count, really! Mary and Wade are not only very much in love…but, they are very much loved! This beautiful woman…and this handsome man were practically giddy as we got closer to the time!Best first look of 2016!!! How cute is his reaction to seeing his bride for the first time?!From that moment on…they were completely focused on each other! We took a little time away to have some special shots of them….and you can’t even tell that we were all melting! Love that smile!
Of course, there was a lot of kissing being done throughout the whole day!Mary has surrounded herself with some beautiful women that are just as sweet as they are pretty! And, Wade…well, his guys came with a lot of character! They might get the award for my largest bridal party for the 2016 season….and, boy were they fun!Even in the hot sun! When it was finally time for the ceremony, Mary was ready to take that walk with her dad…who also was the pastor! How special is that? They started the ceremony by inviting all the guests to join in while singing a worship song welcoming the Lord into the center of their lives together. Very touching!Their lives and relationship has had a lot of prayer put into it…and I know that will never stop!THE KISS!Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds!
Here is where I apologize for skipping stuff….it was a gorgeous reception and fun dance party…even I got to put my camera down and join the fun…but, there’s just not enough time to share it all! So…we will end with a couple of shots that we grabbed just as that golden light came out blessed us with it’s rays!CONGRATULATIONS, Wade and Mary! You are both so special and I know that keeping your eyes on the Lord, you are going to walk through life together loving, learning, and encouraging each other to be who God wants you to be!
