My own little ice princess! Natalie Kaye turns 17 today….and she is excited! The trouble with a Christmas Eve birthday is that life gets pretty busy around December and sometimes your birthday gets a little overlooked…and this year it has never been more true! With all the surgeries and doctor visits happening with my dad this month has been crazy and we just couldn’t find the time to get a shoot in until just yesterday morning…cutting it a little close, aren’t we? We had been dreaming of what to do this year and knew we wanted to do something different…..…and I would say we did! We got up super early in search of snow…and while we did find some…it was raining!!! But…we went ahead and had some fun anyway! Why not, right? She was all dressed up! We had some fun!GORGEOUS!!!! My friend, Candice, loaned us this gorgeous skirt that her mother in law made…and it was PERFECT for our vision!LOVE!Natalie has made some huge changes in her life this past few months and I have been watching her navigate those changes with lots of thought, prayer, and grace. It hasn’t always been easy but…she is learning to voice what she needs and act on that, while still holding on to her sensitive heart and compassion for others….it’s impressive to watch! And…she continues to shower the world with her funny joy!! This looks like she is just laughing…but really..she is laughing cause I fell in a hole! So…..there’s that…. haha!Going into a snowy forest while it’s raining….can sometimes mean mini avalanches happen…..sometimes….Oh, my girl…. she grows more beautiful every day. We did a quick change and shot for just a few more minutes before heading back to Tacoma…..Those brown eyes are so lovely! She is finishing out the second half of junior year…and we have already started the stressful conversations of “what’s next”? So much pressure on such a young heart….but, I know without a doubt she is going to be great at whatever she does! This was one of her favorites from the day!Of all my kids, she is the one who loves photography most…and she is there with me through the editing and culling….she loves the whole thing! Makes me happy! So…we decided we couldn’t let that skirt go to waste….so we stopped downtown for a few urban shots….which I LOVED!!!!!We debated back and forth about hair up or down….but, really, why do we have to choose? This is one of my favorite shots….it’s just so dramatic! I love it!Another of hers…..And…a typical face from my girl! Most times when she has just done something mischievous and thinks this cute little smile will make me forget….and it does, SOMETIMES!That face! For some reason…this might be my all time favorite shot from this session… something about it!Natalie Kaye…I love you more than you will ever know! I am blessed to be your mom and I love watching you grow and learn. I know that God has some amazing plans ahead for you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Little Girl!!!!!!!
